FOAMdation was created by a former NW FY trainee, Gareth Thomas. What makes it unique is that it bases its information on best current available evidence an encourages you to stay skeptical about the evidence behind our practice. I have been fortunate enough to work with Gareth in the Royal Liverpool ED department and you can see his approach in the way he thinks and approaches cases. Advice from seniors is often taken as fact, but as FY trainees we are also in a unique position as ‘juniors’ to question why we do things in the way that we do.
The site contains over 20 podcasts on relevant FY topics including common scenarios such as falls, AKI and prescribing antibiotics, as well as section on practical advice about ‘how to be a junior doctor’.
Although not directly linked to mindfulness, this is a really useful resource that can only improve your FY training experience. Check it out
